The Portville Free Library accepts gifts and donations with the donor‘s acknowledgement and
understanding that any donations become the property of the Portville Free Library. How
donations will be used is at the discretion of the library manager and/or the Library Board of
Trustees.
The library cannot certify the value of gift, but can formally acknowledge receipt of any
accepted gifts.
The library graciously accepts monetary gifts. If the donor has a preference as to how the
funds should be used the library manager will try to accommodate their wishes.
The library will send a card to the individual or family notifying then that a gift or memorial
has been made in their honor. The library will also send a card to the donor acknowledging
the donation. Donations, gifts, and memorials will also be listed on the Portville Free Library
web page and updated quarterly.
Through a very generous donation, our new lift has been totally paid for. An
anonymous donor gave us the funds to pay for the lift in memory of Gertrude
Schnell (1934-2022).
Miss Schnell taught 5th grade in Franklinville, NY for many years.
We are very appreciative that we were chosen to receive this gift in her memory.
Other gifts and memorials were used to pay for the contractor that adjusted the
shaft so that this new lift would fit. Hopefully this lift will be usable for many
years and make access to the library very convenient.
